What is it?
AbleTo employs a team of licensed therapists and coaches that offer one-on-one behavioral health services through your phone or secure video chat. The program offered includes two 45-minute sessions per week at your convenience. First, you fill out a contact form, then a specialist will reach out to review the program with you, then you set personal goals and begin. FAQs are answered here.
Why is it innovative?
As a participant, you work with both a therapist and a behavioral coach. Together, coaches and therapists offer a treatment plan that is designed to be short-term (approximately eight weeks) and uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques. They also promote the use of tools such as mindfulness.
The Market
Unlike similar virtual therapy interfaces such as Talkspace, AbleTo is covered by a range of national and regional health insurance plans making it affordable and accessible. AbleTo therapists are licensed clinical social workers while coaches have a master’s-level education or greater (AbleTo). In February 2018, AbleTo became the first behavioral health service provider to receive telehealth accreditation by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC; Globe News Wire).

“We’re innovating to provide accessible and effective behavioral health care for patients and to deliver results for insurers” (AbleTo).
